Richard is our personal trainer. With over 30 years’ experience, he offers safe and effective personal training programmes that get results. He’s just as comfortable supporting athletes as those who don’t even like exercise and find it hard to motivate themselves to train!

We have our own personal training gym here at Willow House. Our strength, aerobic and functional training equipment can be used indoors and out, so Richard’s equally happy to do his personal training in the garden – weather permitting.

Richards’s career background
Most of Richard’s experience comes from 27 years as a physical training instructor in the RAF, where he trained new personnel, improved the fitness levels of aircrew, and ran the gym.
On leaving the RAF, he completed a comprehensive advanced personal training qualification at the YMCA in London before setting up his personal training business. He has been an instructor on boot camps for a company which runs events in Spain, Morocco and the UK, which enhanced his ability to work with people from all walks of life, each with their own goals and challenges.
For half of his RAF career, Richard also worked as an outdoor activities instructor. This included taking people hiking, rock-climbing and mountain-biking. Seeing people develop by overcoming challenges and working as a team in tricky situations was extremely rewarding, and built Richard’s knowledge of how to help people to push themselves in both the outdoor environment and in the gymnasium.
