Your first physiotherapy visit

This might be your first visit to Willow House, or it might be your first-ever physiotherapy appointment. Either way, here’s what to expect.

Please note that we’re happy to treat anyone under the age of 16, but they must be accompanied by an appropriate adult.

What will happen during your first visit?

First visits include an initial assessment. Your physiotherapist will:

What should you bring with you?

It would be helpful, although not essential, if you could bring any relevant medical information. This could include scan or x-ray reports, details of any previous surgery you’ve had, etc. We may also need to know about any medication you’re taking, and whether you have any allergies.

How long will your physiotherapy assessment take?

Our Initial Assessment appointments are usually 1 hour long.

We can then organise follow up appointments depending on what you need; 1 hour or 45 minutes are the usual length but we also offer half hour ‘rehab sessions’

What should you wear?

If you’re a runner, or training for an event, please bring your running shoes and details of your training programme to your first consultation.

Will you need to undress?

We may ask you to undress to your underwear so that we can carry out an effective assessment. Please wear appropriate undergarments, and feel free to bring shorts if this would make you feel more comfortable.

What if you have questions?

We’ll talk you through the whole physiotherapy management plan before we begin any treatment, to make sure you’re completely comfortable with what we’re proposing. Our pricing is here. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to let us know.
