WHAT WE OFFER
Sports Therapy Rehabilitation
Sports rehabilitation focuses on safely helping an individual suffering from pain, injury or illness involving the musculoskeletal system get back to optimal condition. As a therapy it blends targeted exercise programming, strength and conditioning, and some manual therapy to return patients to their peak pre-injury fitness.
Our Sports Therapist Tomas provides individually tailored treatment which can include hands on soft tissue therapy, progressive gym-based exercises and specific stretching and movement patterns to help strengthen your body and reduce pain. He can carry out appointments in our private gym or in one of the clinical rooms should massage be required.
Soft tissue therapy is not just appropriate for people who do sport. It can help improve posture and reduce the impact of work and life stress. It can be used as a preventative treatment, as well as therapy to aid your recovery or help improve performance, whatever your aims. Tomas works in conjunction with the other therapists in the clinic as part of an all-encompassing treatment plan for the individual.
At Willow House, we aim to get you back to your best as quickly as possible, returning you to your chosen sport or activity by rehabilitating you back to strength whilst helping prevent injury recurrence.
We recognise that some of you want to get stronger in order to perform better in your sport, to get fitter or to maintain strength as you get older so you can continue to do the things you love. Whatever your reason for wanting to get stronger, we can help!
During the Rehabilitation session in our equipped gym at the clinic, Tomas will discuss your goals and what you want to get out of the session. He will then work with you to assess your current strength, and then set a programme of relevant exercises, making sure you understand how to do them with the correct technique.
Who is it for?
Great for those returning to fitness after a sports injury, this service is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. If you are limited in your movement and simply want to be able to sit and stand efficiently, or are actively training for a competitive athletic event, we can provide the support and treatment plans that will help you achieve your goals. It can specifically help with all of the following:
- Long term physical /musculoskeletal conditions (e.g. osteoarthritis in the knees and hips, low back pain, shoulder problems)
- Post surgery
- Post sporting or general physical injury
Fitness And Health
As we get older, we naturally lose muscle mass and strength if we don’t do work on maintaining or developing it. Resistance or strength training has been found to help maintain muscle mass as we age. Our Sports Therapist, Tomas and Personal Trainer, Richard can assess your current level of strength and stability and then set exercises that you can do in the comfort of your own home or in the gym if you prefer.
We can:
- Set an exercise programme at a level you are comfortable with to develop or maintain strength
- Prescribe strengthening work to help prevent muscle or bone injuries and further loss of muscle mass
- Help you improve your balance to help prevent falls
- Help you develop better muscle tone and improve physical robustness
- Help you to live a healthier lifestyle
What injuries can we help with?
- ACL and meniscus tears
- Hamstring, groin and calf strains
- Rotator cuff injuries
- Tennis elbow
- Achilles tendonitis
- Ankle, muscle and ligament sprains
- Stress fractures
- Concussion and balance issues
