Our approach and atmosphere
"The friendliness of staff, and ease of booking and first consultation, is very thorough. Everything is very COVID-safe and inspires so much confidence. It has all been excellent, without exception."

"Exceptionally friendly and professional. No ‘dumbing down' Too many people don't seem to take the time to explain things properly, but that's not the case here. Would highly recommend to anyone with musculoskeletal issues."

"I always enjoy my experience here, not only for my treatment but for the friendly care of the team and help. They never let you miss an appointment by giving you a kind reminder. And now a bigger car park – its perfect! "

Physiotherapy for chronic conditions
"I came after several years of getting nowhere with my worsening condition. Mary immediately knew what the root of my problems was. She went the extra mile for me and researched a selection of reputable, qualified surgeons for my injury. I fully trust Mary's honest, no nonsense approach and I finally feel like I’m moving forward!"
Lindsay Leggate
"Mary is held in such phenomenally high regard that it was a fellow physio of hers that referred me to her, when I was struggling deeply with recovery from long-lasting nerve damage, hip and back pain. At a time when I thought I’d never get better and at my lowest ebb, this wonderful woman came into my life and simply changed it for the better. Using a breathtaking range of techniques (her passion for expanding her already seismic range of expertise doesn’t wain) she has managed to remove virtually all my pain and restricted mobility to the extent I now go to her only for “maintenance” and, to be honest, her company! She is highly intelligent but also very intuitive, always listening, seeing and feeling to find novel methods to address whatever weird and wonderful issue I choose to present her with. She provides a wealth of reference material to work with, such as on-line videos, and instruction for all manner of self-help therapy (such as taping). She also has an impressive stock of products that can be used to eradicate the most elusive of physiological problems. Over the years she has become my wise friend from whom I not only gain physical strength and pain-free sleep, but also her council and support to my mental health (whether she knows it or not!). I could not recommend her, and her lovely Willow House practice, more highly. I intend to keep coming forever!”

Physiotherapy for accidents and injury
I have had the most help I could want with Lesley. I broke my hip and have bulging discs but I am just about as good as new with all her help and hard work. It has taken a while but it was worth it.

"Willow House is the best way to recovery. I'd been concerned how my Achilles would heal and what strength I’d have, but with their treatment, exercise and encouragement I now feel 100%."

“I dislocated my thumb a few weeks ago and was having difficulty with swelling, discomfort and lack of movement. Mary used her PhysioPod deep oscillation machine and after just a few days I can already see a huge improvement!”
Lucy Steele
"Following a car accident, I had several physiotherapy appointments at Willow House. Mary’s knowledge of how the body works is fantastic and I’m well on the way to recovery."
Dean Forrest
"Thank you, Mary, for getting me back on track after I hurt my neck in a car accident. I’m doing my exercises and am loads more mobile than I was. I can even look over my shoulder instead of turning my whole body when I’m cycling!"

Physiotherapy after surgery
“Thank you for helping me recover so quickly from my back surgery. I found our sessions very helpful and reassuring, especially in the first few weeks after my operation when my mobility was severely limited. I’m more or less back to full fitness now and can walk 5 miles without difficulty. I wouldn’t have made such a quick recovery without your help.”
Janet Goldsworthy
“Thank you for directing me through a very tough period after my hip operation. I now recommend you to all my (younger!) colleagues at work with bad backs etc and have a stock of your cards that I give out when appropriate.”

Physiotherapy for athletes and sports enthusiasts
“With Mary’s expert guidance, I’m well on the road to recovery from a knee injury I sustained while kickboxing. I can’t wait to be back competing at world level, and I’ve no doubt I’m going to end up fitter and stronger than I’ve ever been."
Darren Burton
"Like many other 'too keen' sportspeople, I left my shoulder injury too long before seeking advice and had been told by several professionals that it was something I was 'just going to have to live with'. I knew immediately I was going to like Mary’s approach, as she had an incredibly positive attitude which matched my own determination to get back to playing sport. I’m now happily back playing tennis!”

Personal training
Personal training for general fitness
"I’ve been training with Richard for 6 months now and I’m glad to say I’m feeling fitter and more motivated than I have in years. I’m less tired at the end of a busy week and I feel healthier. I still don't like running, but at least Richard makes me work harder doing intervals and I'm pushing myself harder than I could manage on my own. I pay for 10 sessions at a time as it keeps me motivated to use them. I’m aiming to run a 10K in the summer as I like to have goals to aim for."

Personal training after ill health
"I was in good shape a long time ago, and after a bit of a health scare I approached Richard to see if he could help me improve my body shape, get fitter and find some of that energy I remember having. After listening to what my aims were, Richard did some fitness and strength testing with me to work out which areas we needed to prioritise. I hadn't realised he would find so many! It’s taken a few weeks and some hard work on my part, but I’m enjoying life again, have more energy and my GP is happy because my cholesterol levels and my weight have come down, too.”

Personal training after an injury
"I contacted Richard to try to get back into running after being injured a couple of years ago. He took the time to find out what I needed to concentrate on, and used the functional movement screen to score my flexibility and core strength. I only scored 11/21, but after 8 weeks of correctional exercises I’d improved to 15/21. My muscle strength, tone and flexibility had then improved enough to start running/walking and Richard took me out for several interval sessions, which I would never have tried on my own.

Personal training for weight loss
“I’ve been trying to motivate myself to lose weight and get fit after having a baby last year. Richard has been very helpful in helping me achieve my goals. I’m not quite back to pre-baby weight or shape(!), but I’m keeping going. Richard’s breadth of experience as a personal trainer keeps me interested. I’ve surprised myself at how much I like the boxercise, and it’s really helped me tone up my pecs and arms.”

Personal training for weight loss
“I’m getting married next year. I’m losing weight and toning up so I’m not buying my dress yet, as I’m sure I’ll be in even better shape by then. I’ve surprised myself at how much I’ve improved and actually enjoy the training again. Thanks!"
